Modern businesses need solutions that are increasingly geared towards reducing production lead times and making processes more efficient. In bending, the critical aspects affecting productivity are tool set-up and programming times. AMADA has designed the HG-ATC model, available in the 1003 and 2204 versions, to provide the ideal solution for processing different sized lots with complex tool layouts. Thanks to the integrated ATC Automatic Tool Changer and powerful offline VPSS3i Bend programming software, increasingly smaller lots and shorter lead times are no longer a problem. Set-up times are drastically reduced due to the Automatic Tool Changer, which can load tools in the most complex layouts, providing high efficiency and precision and the possibility for operators, with varying experience to use the machine effectively.

AUTOMATIC TOOL CHANGER

Set-up times are reduced thanks to the Automatic Tool Changer (ATC), which can prepare tool layouts quickly and precisely, with even the most complex set-up performed in under 2 minutes. The ATC is equipped with a large tool storage, two pairs of tool robots and a unit for the automatic cleaning of dies and tool clamping. The ATC offers smart management to optimise the set-up configuration, use tools already assembled and install punches, even when reversed.

HYBRID TECHNOLOGY & ACTIVE CROWNING

The machine is equipped with a servo hydraulic drive system. The hybrid technology delivers energy savings; in fact, the hydraulic circuit is operated "on demand" by the bending cycle. Far less hydraulic oil is used compared to a traditional bending machine, with a clear reduction in the environmental impact. The servo hydraulic technology maximises speed and positioning precision. The HG-ATC also features an active hydraulic crowning system, that can respond in real time to any deflection of the upper beam, for constant results over the entire bend length.

ANGLE DETECTION

The HG-ATC can process any part, material and thickness with high precision over the entire part length. Thanks to the mechanical bending indicator (BI-S), the HG-ATC can measure and correct the angle on three points, in fully automatic mode. The angle is measured reading the spring back, to correct the downwards movement of the beam and allow for active crowning in real time. Plus, the HG-ATC is equipped with standard features for measuring thickness and correcting relative bend data (TDS), as well as the “Force Control” function that can maintain a stable bend angle through control of the force applied.

MULTI-TOUCH NUMERICAL CONTROL

The HG-ATC features latest-generation AMNC 3i numerical control. The 18.5’ touchscreen, with its user-friendly interface, enables complete management of the process, machine and all its functions, through a simple, intuitive approach. The AMNC 3i offers various types of programming (direct, 2D, 3D), plus complete management of tool set-up, and enables easy, quick programming for even the most complex parts. The AMNC 3i is the digital heart of the solution, connected to offline programming software and is a powerful and innovative tool that makes the HG-ATC "Industry 4.0” compatible.

BACK GAUGE

The back gauge of the HG-ATC series has been designed and developed to meet criteria of precision, speed and reliability, offering an excellent performance and flexibility in gauging. The standard configuration has two traditional X axes, plus an additional Delta X function (two independent X axes), two independent Z axes and a R axis.

ERGONOMIC FUNCTIONS

Bending process productivity is related to machine performance and also to ergonomic functions that help the operator carry out work quickly and simply. Besides standard accessories such as sheet metal support and sheet follower, the HG-ATC features an “Auto Foot Pedal”, the smart sliding pedal that can automatically move opposite the bending station, saving considerable operator time and effort.
