How is AMADA progressing in the context of “Industry 4.0?”

Sustained by its know-how and expertise in the design of new technologies, AMADA has been investing considerable resources for some time now in product innovation that is increasingly targeting the needs of Smart Manufacturing.
The first step towards Industry 4.0 was to develop IoT concepts, i.e. implementing solutions and systems capable of collecting data from machines. This was necessary in response to the needs of customers, who now call for just-in-time data to find out what and how a machine is manufacturing, about any alert statuses, machine efficiency, etc.
Similarly, AMADA identified other key performance indicators which are extremely useful from the standpoint (and not only) of smart manufacturing: setup times, tooling times, materials and tools most used, etc.
Thanks to a dedicated Web Portal and App, it is now possible to collect all data identified and sent by/to each single machine, using a cloud storage platform that can be accessed by users at any time and from any device (PC, tablet, smartphone). This data is extremely useful for optimising the production process and the efficiency of tool magazines and equipment.
By using the same infrastructure, AMADA can promptly and immediately diagnose any machine alarms and operating anomalies, enabling predictive maintenance.
Plus there's more. AMADA can now offer a system to manage production (ERP) that is fully integrated with AMADA's CAD/CAM programming system. This makes it possible to manage and monitor production planning and progress, assisting the operator and speeding up all phases that can be automated.
We are also working on tools that will enable our engineers to benefit from augmented reality. Machines are increasingly sophisticated and having equipment that can guide the operator with useful indications is a great opportunity.
