Level 2 Machinist Apprentice

 

This 18 month Level 2 apprenticeship, based at our Head Office in Kidderminster combines formal
study with hands-on experience in manufacturing environment.
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Level 2 Machinist Apprentice to join our fast-paced
manufacturing team.
In this role, you will develop the foundational skills needed to operate advanced CNC and manual
machinery, transforming raw materials into high-quality components for our customers. You will
receive comprehensive on-the-job training while earning a recognised qualification. If you have a
keen eye for detail, a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for making things work, we want
to help you build your future in engineering.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

The successful candidate will develop into a multi-skilled operator; taking ownership of processes
and contributing to the preparation, control, and completion of manufacturing processes and
standard operating procedures.
With a focus on safety and efficiency, the apprenticeship prepares you to work closely with sales
and technical teams and handle any issues that arise in the process, offering a solid foundation for
a rewarding career in the tool room.


The following are the learning targets:

  • Setting, programming and machine operation to manufacture tooling components.
  •  Inspecting and checking manufactured components to within exceptionally high tolerances.
  • Machines & processes:
  • Sink (spark) EDM
  • Wirecut EDM
  • Hole-drilling EDM
  • Profile Punch Grinding
  • Turning – CNC Lathe
  • Surface Grinding
  • Laser Marking Machine

 Other areas of learning are as follows:
Tool Assembly
Stock taking, re-stocking raw materialspackaging and despatch

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidates will be able to prove:


Engineering aptitude - either work experience and/or hobbies/activities
Good Mathematical and English qualifications - Minimum C/4 at GCSE
Strong work ethic and flexible attitude
Smart and professional presentation
Enthusiasm and self- motivation
Evidence of prior engineering study would be an advantage but not essential
