Greenfield Investment Focus on AMADA

/

AMADA UK is proud of its long-standing and robust relationship with Greenfield Engineering, a partnership established in the early 1990s. Over the decades, AMADA has supported the company’s impressive continual growth, a reflection of its proactive focus and forward-thinking investment strategy.

Greenfield has taken a different approach...

As the manufacturing industrial sector more broadly has faced a challenging period, with many companies choosing to wait to invest, Greenfield has taken a totally different approach, placing a strong emphasis on continual investment centre to its strategy. This includes not only machinery, but also in the latest operating software, infrastructure, expanding floor space and most importantly, the workforce training both internally and externally. Greenfield plans to become a major titan in the UK subcontracting manufacturing sector as it continues to expand its market share.

In addition to a strong domestic order book, the diverse OEMs served by Greenfield cover office furniture, commercial lighting, refrigeration, construction, and transportation, as well as growing industries such as control systems, and data control.

This diversity makes it difficult to generalise the characteristics of Greenfield's client portfolio. Nevertheless, it is rare to see such a level of capital investment from a contract manufacturer, especially one whose performance is not tied to economic growth in a single sector. The trend of onshoring, accelerated by geopolitical tensions, has exposed fragilities in many supply chains. This has coincided with a reset in trade relations and tariffs, prompting more companies to re-examine their supply chains, moving manufacturing closer to home and back to the UK. Greenfield has seen a significant increase in this area over the last 18 months.

Investment in the AMADA EMZ-3612 MII

A key step in advancing Greenfield’s capabilities has been the investment in the AMADA EMZ-3612 MII punching machine. The fully electric, dual-servo system delivers a 30-ton punching force with up to 70% lower energy consumption than hydraulic models, supporting both sustainability goals and cost efficiency.

With speeds exceeding 500 strokes per minute, the machine enables fast, accurate processing of high volumes. Integrated tapping stations reduce the need for secondary operations, while tool ID systems and monitoring features minimise setup time and prevent tooling errors, helping to streamline throughput across operations.

Greenfield now operate five AMADA EM turret punches...

Flexible turret options accommodate a wide range of tooling requirements, and the advanced AMNC 4ie control system offers IoT connectivity, remote diagnostics, and intuitive operator support. These features ensure reliable performance across shifts and reduce dependency on operator knowledge and experience.

This latest addition supports the company’s commitment to delivering speed, quality, and reliability through a future-ready production line. Greenfield now operate five AMADA EM turret punches with varying levels of automation, and with further planned investments already underway for 2026.

This new addition becomes part of an extensive array of AMADA machinery already in operation, including: seven HD/HFE press-brakes three of which are automatic tool changers (ATC), Robotic ASTRO-II 100NT bending cell, two automated fibre lasers, two TOGU-EU tool grinders, and a comprehensive range of automated punching and forming technology. All of this is monitored via V-Factory real-time data, all supported by AMADA’s service team and IoT online support, ensuring minimal downtime giving maximum efficiency and productivity. The consistent, reliable service support from AMADA has been a major key factor in maintaining high performance across the shopfloor production enabling continued confidence in high-volume capacity.

The long-standing relationship between Greenfield Engineering and AMADA UK continues to play a central role in production strategy

"What does AMADA mean to us? It's like the fuel in the engine, without it, Greenfield wouldn’t function as it does! A partnership at this level takes years of hard work to evolve." – Gary Burnard, Managing Director Greenfield Engineering.

AMADA UK will continue to work relentlessly in continuing to be an integral part of Greenfield Engineering's ongoing success, providing the technology and support that fuels their engine of progress.
